BETTING 101 - How Place a Wager

Placing a bet is quick and easy. Just remember: amount, type, program number.

Amount:

The amount that you wish to wager if placing a straight bet or the base amount of your wager if you are placing a box or wheel wager. Minimum bet is $1.00 for box and wheel combinations or $2.00 for a straight bet.

Type:

The type of wager that you wish to make – Win, Place, Show, or Feature (such as Triactor, Exactor, etc.).

Program Number:

The number of your horse of choice.

Win, Place, and Show Wagering is Available on All Races!

Win: The horse you have picked must finish FIRST!

Place: The horse you have picked may finish FIRST or SECOND!

Show: The horse you have picked may finish FIRST, SECOND, or THIRD!

Feature Wagers are Available Where Specified at the Top of the Race Card!

Exactor: Pick a horse to win the race and a horse to come in second. If they finish in that ‘exact’ order, you have a winning ticket!

Triactor: Similar to the Exactor, but you must also pick a horse to finish in third place.

Quinella: Pick the top two finishers of the race but, unlike the Exactor, the exact order of the two does not need to be specified.

Daily Double: Pick the winner of two races in a row, starting on the race where Daily Double appears at the top of the card.

Win-Three: Pick the winners of three consecutive races, starting on the race where Win-Three appears at the top of the card.

Pick-Four: Pick the winners of four consecutive races, starting on the race where Win-Four appears at the top of the card.

Box and Wheel Wagering

Box: When a ‘box’ is specified in your wager, all possible finish combinations are applied to your selected horses. Thus a “$2.00 Exactor box, 1-2-3” would cover all six possible finish positions: 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-3, 3-1, and 3-2, for a total cost of $12.00 ($2.00 per combo). A base wager of $1.00 is offered on Exactor and Triactor boxes. With a $1.00 box ticket, winners receive one-half of the price listed on the tote board.

Wheel: A wheel is when you pick one or more ‘key’ horses to finish in exact position(s) and then select some or all of the remaining field to finish in the remaining position(s): “$1.00 Triactor Wheel, 1 ‘with’ 2-3, ‘with’ all.” This ticket is a winner if: #1 finished first, and either #2 or #3 finish second, with any of the remaining field finishing in third. With eight horses running in the race, this ticket would cost a total of $12.00 (there are 12 possible combinations on this ticket).
